What an incredible weekend for the U15 Raiders at the OHRL Mid-Winter Classic Tournament! After a tough start on Friday with a loss, the team rallied to secure their first win, ending the day with a 1-1 record.
Saturday brought high stakes, with the first game determining 2nd and 3rd place in the pool. Despite falling short in that matchup, the boys knew they deserved a better outcome and kept their heads high.
In the semifinals, the team faced a chance at redemption against the Barrie Slingshots, the team they had lost to that morning. With determination, the Raiders took an early 4-1 lead. Although Barrie fought back to make it 4-3, the Raiders regrouped, held strong, and punched their ticket to the final.
Sunday’s championship game was a rematch against the Brantford Barons, and the Raiders were ready. Through teamwork, grit, and sacrifice, the boys delivered a solid performance, securing a thrilling 2-1 victory to bring home the Gold Medal Championship.
This victory marks a historic moment for the organization, earning their first championship in their inaugural season.
