Coach Higgins Coaching Philosophy:
My coaching philosophy centers on building a positive, accountable team culture where player growth and team success go hand in hand. A successful team starts with a strong foundation: trust, respect, and relentless work ethic. I believe in creating an environment where every player feels valued, challenged, and supported—regardless of their role on the team. Team unity, combined with a detailed knowledge of team systems, lead to team performance.
Player development is about more than just skills; it’s about mindset, resilience, and responsibility. I focus on teaching the game the right way: emphasizing hockey IQ, situational awareness, and team-first play. On-ice performance is matched by off-ice character. My goal is to develop leaders—not just athletes.
A great team is one where each individual understands their strengths, embraces their role, and contributes selflessly. I encourage open communication, competitive intensity, and constant improvement. When players commit to a shared vision, support one another, and buy into the team culture, success becomes the byproduct.
Ultimately, my mission is to prepare players not just to win games, but to succeed in life—with the lessons, values, and habits learned through hockey.
Coach Higgins is excited for his new role and looks forward to a competitive camp.
